Ammonium-Stabilized Range

Ammonia Stabilized Silica Sol Grade Comparison

Peak-tech AM grades are alkaline aqueous nanosilica dispersions using an ammonium stabilization direction. Standard options provide two SiO₂ concentrations and two particle-size ranges for industrial formulation trials.

Model SiO₂ Content Particle Size Na₂O Content pH Shelf Life
AM3010 30±1% 10–15 nm ≤0.1% 8–10 ≥12 months
AM4010 40±1% 10–15 nm ≤0.1% 8–10 ≥12 months
AM4020 40±1% 20–30 nm ≤0.1% 8–10 ≥12 months

Particle size can be reviewed for customization. Confirm the required nominal size, tolerance, test method and complete specification before sampling.

Terminology note: "Ammonia stabilized" is used here as a search term for an ammonium-stabilized silica-sol system. It does not define a guaranteed free-ammonia, NH₄⁺ or volatile-content value. Request and confirm those limits separately when they are critical.

Grade Selection

Choose by Solids Level and Particle Size

30±1% SiO₂

AM3010

Standard 30% option with 10–15 nm particles, Na₂O ≤0.1% and a published pH range of 8–10.

Higher Solids

AM4010

Increases supplied SiO₂ content to 40±1% while retaining the 10–15 nm particle-size range.

Larger Particles

AM4020

Combines 40±1% SiO₂ with a 20–30 nm particle band for a different surface-area and packing profile.

Particle-Size Adjustment

A custom particle target can be assessed after the measurement method, tolerance, quantity and application are provided.

Formulation Qualification

Confirm Ammonium-System Requirements Before Testing

Specify both the silica-sol parameters and any ammonia- or ammonium-related process limits. Similar particle size and pH do not guarantee equivalent behavior.

  • Core specification: provide SiO₂ content, particle size, pH, density and viscosity.
  • Ammonium requirement: state any free-ammonia, NH₄⁺, odor, volatile or residual-content limits and test methods.
  • Sodium limit: confirm whether the published Na₂O limit of ≤0.1% is acceptable.
  • Process environment: list acids, salts, binders, catalysts, pigments, solvents and process water.
  • Handling conditions: provide ventilation, temperature, mixing order, dilution and drying or curing conditions.
  • Acceptance criteria: define storage stability and the relevant coating, bonding, polishing or finished-product tests.
  • Order details: include sample quantity, annual demand, packaging and destination country.

Packaging and Storage

Protect Product Stability During Storage

Packaging Options

Available polyethylene packaging sizes are 25 kg, 250 kg and 1000 kg.

Storage Temperature

Store at 0–40°C and protect from freezing. Freezing can cause irreversible gelation.

Direct Sunlight

Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during storage and transportation.

Closed and Ventilated Handling

Keep containers closed and follow site-specific ventilation and chemical-handling requirements during transfer and use.

FAQ

Ammonia Stabilized Silica Sol Purchasing Questions

Which ammonia stabilized silica sol grades are available?

The standard ammonium-stabilized AM grades are AM3010, AM4010 and AM4020.

Does ammonia stabilized define the free-ammonia content?

No. The term describes the stabilization direction. Free-ammonia, ammonium-ion and volatile-content limits must be specified and confirmed separately.

How do AM3010 and AM4010 differ?

Both use a 10–15 nm particle range. AM3010 contains 30±1% SiO₂, while AM4010 contains 40±1%.

Which grade has the larger standard particle size?

AM4020 has a published particle-size range of 20–30 nm, compared with 10–15 nm for AM3010 and AM4010.

How should ammonia stabilized silica sol be stored?

Store it at 0–40°C, prevent freezing and direct sunlight, keep the container closed, and follow the applicable ventilation and handling requirements.
