Aluminum Alloy Polishing Fluid Proportioning Techniques

The preparation of aluminum alloy polishing slurry requires selecting appropriate materials, mixing them in the correct proportions, and adjusting the pH value.

Material Selection: The main components of aluminum alloy polishing slurry are alumina and other additives. The alumina should be selected with appropriate particle size and purity, generally using a particle size of 5-20μm and a purity of over 99%. Additives include corrosion inhibitors, surfactants, and preservatives, which should be selected according to specific needs.

Mixing in the Correct Proportions: The general mixing ratio of aluminum alloy polishing slurry is alumina powder:water:surfactant:corrosion inhibitor:preservative = 5:90:2:2:1. Alumina powder is the main component, and the others are auxiliary components. To achieve a reasonable discharge effect and surface smoothness, they need to be mixed in a coordinated manner.

Adjusting the pH Value: After preparing the aluminum alloy polishing slurry, the pH value needs to be adjusted to ensure the stability and performance of the liquid. The pH value of the aluminum alloy polishing slurry should be between 7.4 and 8.0. Aluminum alloy polishing slurry will corrode when the pH value is below 8, while a pH value above 8 will reduce the solubility of alumina, affecting the polishing effect.

Other Precautions
The following points should be noted during the preparation of aluminum alloy polishing slurry:

When mixing, water should be added to the pot first, and then other ingredients should be added gradually.

Stir thoroughly during mixing to ensure a balanced distribution of all components.

When using aluminum alloy polishing slurry, pay attention to the surface cleanliness and temperature of the workpiece.

When storing aluminum alloy polishing slurry, it should be sealed to prevent contamination and evaporation.
