The particle size of the polishing slurry directly determines the fineness of the polishing effect. Coarser particles result in stronger cutting force and faster imperfection removal, but also higher surface roughness. Finer particles result in weaker cutting force and lower polishing efficiency, but better surface finish. Particle size can be categorized into coarse, medium, and fine. Particle size consistency is also crucial; uniform particle size avoids localized scratches and ensures a uniform polishing effect.
Viscosity affects the flowability and adhesion of the polishing slurry to the polishing wheel, and is an important parameter for ensuring the stability of the polishing process. For example, the viscosity of polishing yellow slurry NBW-PL-100 is approximately 35,000 cP. Polishing slurries are mainly classified into acidic and alkaline types based on pH value, with acidic polishing slurries being more widely used. Freshly prepared solutions usually require the dissolution of a certain amount of aluminum ions to achieve the best gloss effect.
Temperature is a key factor affecting the reaction rate and effect of chemical polishing. For aluminum chemical polishing, the temperature can vary in the range of 90℃-135℃. The lower the temperature, the slower the reaction rate and the slightly worse the gloss. The higher the temperature, the faster the reaction rate and the better the gloss. [12] High-quality polishing paste products should meet environmental protection requirements, such as not containing heavy metals and corrosive substances, being harmless to the human body and the environment, and complying with international environmental protection standards such as RoHS.
By detecting the components of the polishing liquid, using scientific methods such as spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and chromatography to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of the components such as abrasives and lubricants, the product formula can be clarified, production quality can be guaranteed, and the process can be optimized.
