Grade Selection

Select by Particle Shape, Size and pH

Acidic Branched Grades

LZ-1A and LZ-2A

Both contain 20% SiO₂ and have pH 2–4, with DLS particle lengths of 30–60 nm or 60–100 nm.

Alkaline Branched Grades

LZ-1 and LZ-2

Both contain 25% SiO₂ and have pH 9–10, with two published DLS length ranges.

Branched Grades

LL-200 and LL-600

Both contain 20% SiO₂ at pH 8–9. Their published TEM particle diameters are 10–15 nm and 4–6 nm.

Potato-Shaped Grade

PT-2

PT-2 has a 60–100 nm DLS length, 30–60 nm TEM diameter, pH 9–10 and customizable SiO₂ content.

Specification Confirmation

Information Needed for Grade Recommendation

The seven grades differ by particle morphology, DLS length, TEM diameter, silica concentration and pH. Confirm the measurement basis and required limits before grade selection.

  • Particle shape: specify branched or potato-shaped particles.
  • Particle dimensions: provide the required DLS length and TEM diameter.
  • Silica content: confirm the standard value or the customized PT-2 target.
  • pH: select the compatible acidic, mildly alkaline or alkaline range.
  • Quality requirements: provide the DLS/TEM methods, certificate requirements and acceptance limits.
  • Order details: include trial quantity, annual demand, packaging and destination country.

Packaging and Storage

Protect Product Stability During Storage

Packaging Options

Available polyethylene packaging sizes are 25 kg, 250 kg and 1000 kg.

Storage Temperature

Store at 0–40°C and protect from freezing. Temperatures below 0°C can cause irreversible gelation.

Direct Sunlight

Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during storage and transportation.

Container Closure

Keep containers closed to limit water evaporation and precipitation of solid silica particles.

Applications

Applications of Non-Spherical Colloidal Silica

Non-spherical silica particles can form interconnected structures during film formation. Grade selection should consider particle shape, DLS length, TEM diameter, silica content and formulation pH.

Film-Forming Coatings

Branched particles can interconnect during drying and support film formation in compatible coating systems.

Superhydrophilic Coatings

Evaluated for creating microscopic surface roughness in formulations designed for high wettability.

Superhydrophobic Coatings

Used in compatible surface-structure designs where branched silica contributes controlled micro-roughness.

Functional Glass Coatings

Applied in glass-coating development intended to improve light transmission and add self-cleaning properties.

Self-Cleaning Surfaces

Supports surface-treatment trials combining non-spherical particles with compatible coating chemistries.

Specialty Surface Modification

Suitable for development projects requiring branched or potato-shaped silica with defined particle dimensions.
